    FAQ

    What size should my app icon be?

    Start with a square image of at least 1024 × 1024 pixels — that’s the App Store size, and every smaller icon is made from it. An SVG is even better, as it scales perfectly.

    Why does my transparent PNG get a background?

    iOS app icons, the Play Store icon and Apple touch icons can’t be transparent — iOS would fill the gaps with black. So the background colour you choose is placed behind your artwork. Favicons and web icons can keep their transparency.

    What is an Android adaptive icon?

    Since Android 8, launcher icons have two layers — a background and a foreground — that the phone crops into its own shape and can animate. The ZIP includes both layers plus the XML that ties them together, and legacy PNGs for older phones.

    Should I round the corners myself?

    No. Supply a square icon; iOS and Android apply their own corner masks. That’s why the iOS and Play Store icons in the ZIP are square.

    Is my logo uploaded?

    No. Every icon is drawn in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
